A family run business with a rich history
H&H Lumber (formerly Hovland Lumber) traces its roots back over 52 years. What began as a humble dairy farm evolved through curiosity, passion, and hard work into a thriving wood mill. Over the many years, the business expanded its facilities, machinery, and product offerings, gradually shifting toward finished luxury wood products. The business has remained deeply rooted in family tradition. Ownership passed from father to son and, in November 2023, transitioned to an extended family connection, marking a new chapter while honoring its rich history. Both the previous and current owners remain actively involved, alongside an expanding team that brings extensive experience and expertise to every project.
Today, H&H Lumber continues that legacy, serving Minnesota, the Midwest, and beyond with precision-milled, high-quality lumber and wood products. From luxury homes to large-scale commercial projects, our team delivers superior materials on time—crafted to meet the exacting standards of builders, contractors, designers, and discerning homeowners.
How we got our start at H & H Lumber
Einer Hovland and his son Eric started the company as Hovland Lumber on their dairy farm in Mora, Minnesota over 50 years. The company started with a PTO driven circle sawmill and plainer. Over time equipment was modernized and the sawmill was retired in order to focus on custom drying and millwork.
